Stationed at Bitburg 1958-1961. When I reported to Transient Barracks upon arrival, I noticed that NCO's and Officers were wearing sidearms. I was told that some Algerians had raided an armory I believe in France. Nice arrival. I was assigned to the 585th Support Squadron and worked in the Orderly Room. Major Harold E Barr was the Commander at the time, and Col. Vetters was Group Commander. Lots more stories. Contact me.
