First trained at Lowry in '59 on guidance for Matador C bird, to ORL for crew training--missile obselete--back to Lowry in '60 to retrain on Mace B- -back to ORL for crew training in '60, including test R&D shots at the Cape (Camp Happiness)--4 sucesses and 1 partial (it got out of the bay)-- then 498th TMG group movement to Kadena in September '61--lots of cutting and pulling cables and equipment installation to operational. Was Mech 1 at site 2--LO was Capt Ernie Schmid, CC was SSgt Harry Kordes. Rotated back and out in Apr '63. Thanks for this site--I came across a former Mace A guy at an air show at March AB (CA) this month and he put me on your trail. Keep up the good work--and did I catch something about a reunion coming in Tucson?
