Just back from Lautzenhausen (Cochem and Garmisch). The town sure has changed. Stayed for 2 days at the Hotel Bajazzo (Old Pacific bar) and had a triple room for 70 Euros. Very basic but the place is simple but nice. Had a great meal at the first (G) and across the street is the Hotel Fortuna. Really a nice place and they have a shuttle to get you to the airport. Inside is beautiful and food is terrific. All the restaurants, what is remaining are empty at all times. On last Tuesday night there were only 5 people in the first (G) for the dinner hours. For my money the Hotel Fortuna is the place to stay if you are looking for a place to spend the night. Hahn airport is amazing. The terminal and services are great and Ryanair airlines has made a big difference in the traffic in and out of the airport. We flew from Kerry Ireland to Hahn in 2 hours and the service and price was outstanding. They have a nice web site and all tickets are purchased on-line. Hahn has quite a few international destinations but none to the United States. Spent hours walking around the base and finding a lot of the old buildings. I enjoyed my trip at Hahn and taking a trip down memory lane. Still plenty of Kirner beer to be found and I thank God I can still drink it.
