Mec 3, Site four, Kadena AFB, March, 1967 to Dec.,1968. I wormed on Crew 38, Training Crew 36 and finally SMELE Crew 35.

Three most interesting incidences while on duty: the UFO sighting, 6.3 earth quake and the night when the N. Koreans took over the USS Pueblo.

Trying to locate Paul A. Smith. We were together at Sembach (60 - 63), then Orlando from 63 - 66. I got orders to Bitburg and \"Smitty\" had orders to Okinawa. I remember some great times, especially Orlando, and am finally casting the net to see if anyone knows where he may be.
Thanks.
See you all in San Diego.

I\'m not a veteran of your service or occupational specialty. I\'m just looking up the history of Okinawa and the nuclear role it played so long ago and I found this site. I have lived here for a long time and I never realized how much history this little island has seen; it\'s been very informative. I\'m glad we never had to use these things, but thank you for your service gentlemen.

Transfered from Karamursel, Turkey in Feb, 1965. Shipped out for discharge in June 1966. Worked in Combat Operations Center with Sgt Webb, Sgt Dawson,Sgt Valkovich, Major Wildermuth, Capt Nichols,Maj. Bennett and others. Locaated under the Tiger Stadium. I used to get a big thrill out of firing up the alert siren and announcing over the base PA system \" Attention all personel, This is a Yellow Alert.Report to your duty stations\". Flew over to Majorca one weekend on a C-47. Just saw some photos of the remains of the flightline, tower, and some of the hangers. Really makes me feel old to see the weeds growing over the place I used to live.

Bitburg AFB, Germany, 1954 - 1957 (Wpns Fuzing Sys spl/office) Hi to all and please write me if you remember me. I am now retired 7 years in Costa Rica..living on SS and small VA disability. Have been fighting the VA for 5 years to upgrade my disability..and then move back to USA...hopefully SOON. I am re-married to a Costarican woman who will be coming \"home\" with me. The socialized medicine here SUCKS, so VA care will be so much better. Will attend the reunion in San Diego if I get back in time...looking forward to seeing a lot of old friends again.

Lackland 1/61, Lowry 3/61 thru 8/61, Orlando 9/61 thru 12/61. Then off to Sembach 1/62 thru 12/64, applying most of my Engine & Airframe Mechanic abilities out a \"A\" flight. Worked under Crew Chief Max Sanchez, and Frank Nesgoda along with Leonard Hannasch as Guidance Tech. Returned to Sembach 2007, enjoyed the fond memories of my service time. Max and Crew did a fantastic job moving the \"B\" Bird from Wildwood to Indiana. Attended my first reunion at Dayton, and looking forward to seeing everybody at San Diego.

Good Morning,

I thought that some of the members might find this interesting.

The perfect mountain retreat. Your own refurbished Adirondack missile silo. (sporting solid wall construction and great views!)

Noted in the HUD statement:

Property has been verified \"Decommissioned\" and cleared from the Russian\'s \"First Strike\" target list per SALT Agreement 1987.

Atlas-F ICBM (Intercontinental Ballistic Missile) not included. (Begs the question \"where is it?\")

For those of you who have following the Tokyo Broadcasting System documentary and one of us returning to Okinawa after 50 years, let me say , it was a \"TRIP OF A LIFETIME\".
Brenda and I are back with a load of memories we will never forget. The changes on the Island are something that I still can\'t comprehend. The people are the most gracious and attending I have ever met, the new construction is a testament to their attitude, \"what recession\" ??? Everything crane on the Island is in use for high rise buildings.Kokasaui Street in downtown Naha is straight out of a Bruce Lee movie with all its glitz and glamour. The City is one massive jumbo-tron scoreboard from any NFL stadium. The economy appears to be booming with Cartier, Louis Vutton, and Rolex specialty stores everywhere, and they are not fake knockoffs either. It is truly a 21st Century city of Starbucks and McDonalds... oh, did I mention the cost of food was thru the roof ?
I was only able to locate one of the original Mace launch sites, the one at Onna Village. It is now a Peace Memorial and has been retro-fitted to resemble a high class Museum. I was greeted with much enthusiasm by the caretakers and given a fantastic tour of the complex.... it only took 5 full days to locate the place. The Site was very difficult to locate and no one at the local Onna Village City Office knew of its existence. No one understood English and could not speak Japanese. We got along quite well with much pointing grunts and SMILES, the other universal language right up there with music.
Brenda, myself, and two Grandkids were there for 12 days and will always look upon favor with the memories. I had always talked going back but never thought it would be a reality, not cheap, but well worth it.
As soon as the Jet-Lag subsides and normal returns, I have loads of images to post here. For those of who were on Okinawa , you won\'t believe your eyes.
