2011 TAC Missileers Reunion

Plans for the 2011 TAC Missileers Reunion are in place!  The reunion dates and hotel have been chosen, activities have been scheduled and we are hoping for a great turnout.  Please put these dates on your calendar and contact the hotel as soon as possible, to make your reservations.  As usual, a good time is in store for all attendees!

  • The TAC Missileers room rate is $89 per night (or $99 per night with breakfast) – this rate is also applicable for up to 3 days before / after the reunion.
  • Complimentary hotel parking is provided.
  • Complimentary area shuttle service is available within a 5.0 mile radius of the hotel (i.e., service does not extend to San Diego International Airport / Lindberg Field). See Helpful Info below for airport shuttle information.

  • Reservations may be made by calling the hotel now. (Making reservations by contacting Holiday Inn Central Reservations or online via the Holiday Inn website is notrecommended):
    • When contacting the hotel, be sure to mention that you are a member of TAC Missileers. This will insure that you are offered their special room rates.
      • $89 + tax / per night – breakfast is not included
      • $99 + tax / per night – breakfast is included for up to 2 room guests
      • Suites are $139 + tax / per night (breakfast is not included)
    • Reservations must be secured using a credit card, but, if necessary, may be canceled, without charge, anytime before 6:00pm on the first day of the reservation.

Wednesday, October 12th…

  • Registration Day — Welcome to San Diego!
  • Happy Hour — Relax and reconnect with old friends
    • 4:00pm to 6:00pm at the hotel – Cash Bar; hotel will provide ‘snacks’

Thursday, October 13th…

  • Enjoy a pleasant day of sightseeing in San Diego — Choose tour #1, #2 or #3   (see Optional Tour descriptions and prices below)
    1. San Diego City Tour with 1 hour Harbor Excursion
      • 6 hours—buses tentatively leave the hotel at 9:30am and return approximately 3:30pm
    2. USS Midway Tour with 1 hour Harbor Excursion
      • 5 hours—buses tentatively leave the hotel at 9:30am and return approximately 2:15pm
    3. San Diego Zoo
      • 7 hours—buses tentatively leave the hotel at 8:30am and return approximately 3:30pm
  • TAC Missileers Business Meeting
    • 5:00pm to 6:00pm at the hotel

Friday, October 14th…

  • Day free until 5:30pm — Relax and reconnect with old friends or do some sightseeing!
  • OktoberfestEnjoy authentic German food, entertainment and “Gemütlichkeit!”

1) San Diego City Tour with Harbor Excursion (Oct. 13th)
(6 hrs. / $45 per person) (minimum 25 people)

This narrated tour will show you the many diversified and unique areas of San Diego as you journey through vibrant Downtown, and The Gaslamp Quarter with its old-world buildings:

  • The Embarcadero with wonderful harbor views
  • Gaslamp Quarter, home to San Diego’s hotspots
  • Balboa Park and its Exposition Museum buildings
  • La Jolla, known as the Jewel of the Pacific, with many upscale shops and eateries
  • The historic landmark Hotel del Coronado along with its beautiful beach

Truly a great way to see the best of San Diego!

The fully narrated, one hour harbor cruise will show you 12 miles of scenery, the USS Midway, Coronado Bay Bridge, NASSCO Shipbuilding Facility, Naval Amphibious Base, Home of Navy Seal Commando Training, Destroyers, Frigates, and Cruisers, and the famous Hotel Del Coronado.

2) USS Midway with Harbor Excursion (Oct. 13th)
(5 hrs. / $47 per person) (minimum 25 people)

Experience life at sea without leaving port! Visitors to the USS Midway Museum enter a floating city at sea and walk in the footsteps of 225,000 Midway sailors who served our country and upheld the American ideals of strength, freedom and peace.

Highlights of the Midway:

  • Admission includes a self-guided audio tour to 25 restored aircraft and 60 exciting exhibits from the powerful engine room to the captain´s bridge. The self-guided audio tours are narrated by former Midway sailors
  • A variety of films and interactive activities for the entire family
  • Thrilling flight simulators for all ages
  • Interactive, story-telling docents throughout the ship
  • Elevator access to 75% of all exhibits

3) San Diego Zoo (Oct. 13th)
(7 hrs. / $54 per person) (minimum 25 people)

Span the globe in one day, viewing rare and intriguing wildlife from nearly every region of the world, in just one location – the San Diego Zoo. With more than 4,000 animals representing 800 species, it’s home to a diverse collection of animals, many of which are rarely seen at other zoos. Visit the newest addition to the Giant Panda Research Station, home to truly one of the most unique and beloved species on the planet. Visit the San Diego Zoo’s most elaborate, ambitious animal habitat to date, Monkey Trails and Forest Tales. Swing by and see the Zoo’s newest attraction, Absolutely Apes – an expansive rain forest habitat where orangutans and siamangs live and play together just like they do in the wild.

4) Oktoberfest (Oct. 14th)

  • Bavarian band and entertainment (Volk Dancers)
