It seems to me that one integral unit of the Mace program has gotten short shrift. Is there anyone out there who worked the MAST system? My own experience impressed me with the speed and efficiency fot the supply technique. Was working on a bird out at Site III and needed a part that was so little needed that none were stored at forward locations -- infact, they were only at WRAMA. Anyway, I placed my order back to Sembach thinking that we will start on the yo-yo and see the part in a couple of weeks. Got the bird off and back into the follow-on area and was starting teardown, when a helicopter landed and I was called to the Maintenance shack. Guess what -- there was my part, delivered from the States within a 12 hour shift!! Found out later that it was just a fluke, that there just happened to be fighter rotation overseas and they stuck my part on one of them. But none the less, it points up the efficiency of the Missile Automatic Supply Technique.

All you guys running the program, the last issue of the TAC MISSILEERS EXTRA was great, what we needed to know, when we needed to know it. Am talking up our next meet as often as possible. Was in Melbourne, FL this week and called a couple of old Matador/Mace guys. They we suprised at the turn out in Orlando last year and sorry they missed that one. Mechanic on the diesel power plants at site 3. Does anyone out there remember the night that all power was lost at site 3 and a bucket brigrade was used to fill the fuel tank? I was dispatched from the base to determine what had caused the failure. It was very interesting trying to get into the site with no power. It was also very quite and unbelievably dark....
After the Okinawa shutdown, I was sent to the 321st MIMS at Grand Forks, ND and the minuteman II. I retired in Oct, 1988 from March AFB, CA with the 26th AD, SWADS as a mainframe maintenance crew chief.
