I'm already on the roster but it is fun looking back to see all my friends, fellow slaves (A2C-A1C) and slave masters (SSgt and above). Those were good days with $150/month wages, castle storming on time off, University of Maryland/USAFI/ECI courses, a 1952 VW that needed to be double-clutched, hot water only in the kitchen, one small transitor radio for entertainment, eleven cent a gallon QM gasoline with Esso coupon backup, quarterly Tac Evals & ORIs, 3 day shifts followed by 3 night shifts followed by one duty crew day then 2 days off, the Cuban Missile crisis, the Kennedy assination crisis, the two years spent with one strip because promotions were so tight, black & white pictures because color film was too expensive, closeness with other families because none of us had any money, and much more. Gee I miss SSgt Bud Delong, SSgt Robt Kohler, Capt John N. Oliver, A2C John Fehn, A2C Richard Rake, Capt Jack Lee, SSgt Richard Redding who spent many months with me in the LCC. It was Capt Oliver who pushed me the most to get into the AECP Program, which I was accepted to in August 1965. I remember MSgts Duffy and Melton who ran our 'duty crew' and had us scrounge paint for a building or bridge when only scraps were left in various cans - an impossible task that was usually productive. I lived off base in Kappel and Kaustelaun with families Keim and Kasner - I thank them for good places to live.
Hello fellow Missileers. Hope you all are going to the 2003 reunion in Denver the 3rd week of June, 2003. There is a lot of interest about it, so I think it is going to be a great reunion, At this date there is already 75 members that have said they will be there, and it is still a little over a year away. WE had a ball in 2001 at the Orlando reunion with 159 members attending. I think Denver is going to be bigger yet. Please let me know if you even think you will be attending as we would like to get an estimate of attendees, for planning purposes. Take care. Max R. Butler/Membership Director/Treasurer
Just to check back in and notify everbody of my new Email address.

Launch crew, site 3. I've seen some pics of Okinawa recently ... looks like the Marines at Camp Schwab took over the area where site 3 was. Also received a pic from an 'army brat' on Okinawa. Seems that the natives actually turned a MACE site into a temple.
Sorry, got the email address wrong in the last note. It should be 'eyeroger@aol.com'. Thanks
Started school on Matador January 28, 1959 at Lowry, shipped to Bitburg July 18, 1959. Assigned to 'B' site on crew B-5. Was in parade at Sembach to welcome the TM-76A.Came back to Cape for firing in June '60. Rotated back to Lowry June '62 and was assigned to Mace A/B Flight Controls as an instructor. Transferred to GAM 87 Skybolt and completed the training as Test Equipment. Program cancelled, returned to Mace A/B Flight Controls as Course Supervisor Jan'63.August '65 started to school as Mace B TEMS. Was slated for Kadena and that assignment was cancelled and I remained as instructor and later course supervisor. Assigned to Kadena September '68 and functioned as Senior Maintenance Controller and finished as a Quick Reaction Team Member. Rotated to Lowry and finished my career as Course Supervisor of the TAC Missile Air to Air, Air to Ground and Smart Munitions with a tour to Southeast Asia
What a really neat website! Great job, Joe! I haven't missed a reunion yet and hope to be around for the last one. For those who can't say the same, you really don't know what you are missing. The camaraderie and memory 'jolts' are just fantastic. I can't say enough for the really superb work put into getting these reunions going and establishing our TacMissileers website. Kudos, also, to Bob Bolton for the pictorial of Site 3 Gruenstadt and his first effort as newsletter editor. Bob was the mech 1 on our crew at Gruenstadt. Capt Charles Cage was the L.O., A2c Teets was the mech 2 and I was the crew chief. That was just one complete crew of 4 that I was on. Barney Lambert, nice to see your pictorial of your tour at Hahn. How's Mary? Barney was my NCOIC at Vandenberg in l969 while in the Director of Communication and Instrumentation, Quality Control office. Ludwig Koeniger, Johnny Marney was at the reunion in Dallas, but, wasn't at Orlando. Koeniger and I trained together prior to going to Germany. Marney was our instructor while we were at Holloman. Regarding the 'Wanted Posters', here is how it came about. Beryl Ristine (a classmate at Lowry prior to Sembach) had the foresight to collect discarded Pass and ID photos while at Sembach. Remember how 4 or more pictures were taken, then one was selected, and the rest tossed? Well, Beryl simply removed them from the trash can when he was there for his picture. Beryl had them in a footlocker for thirty plus years, wrapped in rubber bands. Having known about them for 20 plus years, I asked Beryl if he would mind if I copied them and got them to Joe for the website. He concurred so there they are. The originals will be at each reunion. Unfortunately, Beryl only made a few trips to the Pass & ID office, but what he did get is a real 'gold mine'. Thus the 'High Sheriff' and the 'Gold Miner'. Looking forward to seeing old acqaintences as well as Micro Midget competitors, especially Goggans. You, too, Ted Hollins. Love those sports cars and Mini Coopers.
I just wanted to send my new e-mail address in case some of the old bunch might see this great web site. (like, Bob Farrens, Bill Hess, Harry Sherman, Larry Dalby, Hank Kruger, Steve May etc.) Drop me an e-mail if you run across this. Tom
