Great site. Worked the AANC in Sembach from '62-'64. Biggest surprise was when we got there, was finding out that the Wing had flunked about three ORI's in a row. The Saturday morning alerts got old after a few months.

Hi Everyone! I just wanted to let you all know that we about have a lock on the dates and location for our Dallas/Fort Worth meet in late August. I'm currently preparing the next issue of the newsletter which will include all the info about the meet as well as the long- promised roster of member names, phone numbers and addresses. If things go as planned, I should be mailing it out about the 2nd week of February. I hope you will leave a place in your late August schedule for a visit with old friends. Gary

I arrived at BAB about mid January 1956 and left about late November 1958. I was there when the missile burned in Tripoly. Some brave cowboy from armament roped the RATO bottle and dragged it off with a truck. When I first got to BAB the squadron was the 1st Pilotless Bomber (or Aircraft) Squadron. Malish flew back with our crew in 1958 and I was assigned to pet and comfort him all of the way home. I'm writing up all of my experiences at BAB. When I get through with it, I'll submit it to this web page. It's good to know that you all are here. A/1C (tired) Paul A. Yadon.

Joe, just browsed the new site, really looks good. I would like to add more to our 38TMW site, even fire one up for the B Bird people at Kadena (498th?), and possibly a Korea/Taiwan page for the Matador if there is enough interest. This is the best contact source we have had to work with yet. Keep up the great work! [Bitburg Jan 62 til Dec 65, Flight Controls; Lowry as Perm party, then back to Bush again April 68 til shutdown in April 69, GSC]

The site is OK Joe, what happened to the pictures from the first iteration, I can't seem to find them now? Glad to see some of the other 887th Grunstadt 'Grovelers'... Marc, George and Ski connected, hope to see you guys and a lot more in Dallas next year. It was enjoyable meeting with everyone from the various Mace and Matador units in Las Vegas last June. Everyone should plan to attend both the Dallas interm reunion this year as well as the Orlando 2001 reunion. You will not be sorry. Hope to see you there. Bob

I am pleased to find a site that reunites the old MACE Missileers. I was a member of the 586MMS at Hahn AFB from 1964 through its deactivation in the fall of 1966. I had the honor to be present again at Hahn in April 1985 as a member of the USAFE Special Plans Division (GLCM) to reactivate the 38th TAC MSL WING. With me at that special occasion was another previous 586th member from my 1963/64 Flight Controls Class, Duane W. Wiese. I look forward to hearing from any of the old Mace buddies, Hahn Orlando or Denver acquaintances.

Served with Capt. Carl Harms, Crew chief: SSgt Melvin Provoncher, Mech #1: A/1c Bob Arnold. Arrived Sembach during Pres. Kennedy's 'Stop the Gold Flow' which boiled out to not bringing dependents. Also crewed with Crew Chief SSgt Tobin, and Lt. Gallegan. (The Lt. was one of 22 new Lt.s we got in one slug.) My tour was 1962 through 65. I drove T. Trailer part time from the PX Depot in Grunstat, down the hill from Site 3. We flew into R.M.on a C-118 from McGuire. When we got to the barracks next to the N.C.O. Club, we had to carry bunks and lockers up to the 3rd floor to set them up. Bad 1st impression, but all good there after! After that we went to the 'Golden Anchor' in down town Sembach for beer and pizza. Off base, after paying for the family to fly over, we rented an apt. over the Grinerhof Gasthaus in Mehligan. That was an experience! After training counts at Site 1 (Einkenbach) our crew and our sister crew would come back to my apt. and sample beer and schintzels.(spelling?) The good life!
