I was part of 89th Tac Missile Wing - Site 4 - my launch officer was Captain Lewis. I was the first to leave at the time the Mace was being retired and was transferred to Minet AFB. Many missing friends I would love to hear from. Just heard from Dean Hamilton who lives in KC MO. How do I join the Tac Missileers? Just back from Lautzenhausen (Cochem and Garmisch). The town sure has changed. Stayed for 2 days at the Hotel Bajazzo (Old Pacific bar) and had a triple room for 70 Euros. Very basic but the place is simple but nice. Had a great meal at the first (G) and across the street is the Hotel Fortuna. Really a nice place and they have a shuttle to get you to the airport. Inside is beautiful and food is terrific. All the restaurants, what is remaining are empty at all times. On last Tuesday night there were only 5 people in the first (G) for the dinner hours. For my money the Hotel Fortuna is the place to stay if you are looking for a place to spend the night. Hahn airport is amazing. The terminal and services are great and Ryanair airlines has made a big difference in the traffic in and out of the airport. We flew from Kerry Ireland to Hahn in 2 hours and the service and price was outstanding. They have a nice web site and all tickets are purchased on-line. Hahn has quite a few international destinations but none to the United States. Spent hours walking around the base and finding a lot of the old buildings. I enjoyed my trip at Hahn and taking a trip down memory lane. Still plenty of Kirner beer to be found and I thank God I can still drink it.

Hello Missileers. Tried and like the new short form address to our Tac Missileers web site that Joe provided. I will put the information into the next newsletter, I'll try to get the electronic version 'E-Newsletter' out soon. Please email me if you have anything you would like to have in the newsletter. My idea bank is running low and I would like to keep the newletter going strong with your interesting input. Bob Bolton Newsletter Editor

I sit in nostalgia many times thinking what happened to all our old acquaintances and wishing there was a way to know where they all are. One I know about, T/Sgt James Mercer (deceased), '58- '61, Bitburg. One other, Roy Mathis (same time frame), now living in Phoenix AZ, I keeep in contact with by E-Mail. All the other wonderful friends... (?).
Hi All: Enjoyed the link to the Mace / Translauncher restoration. Does anybodyknow if there is a MM1 on display anywhere or were all of them destroyed? Frank
While I was on the Rock, I worked on a Project called Sunset Lily (Live shot of two CGM-13Bs), that was ultimately canceled. Just wonder if any others are out there that were part of that operation. Also, does anyone know what happened to Major Youngblood? He was a maintenance officer in the 498th TMG. I saw later that he was on the Minuteman system, but then lost track. Guy 'V8' Vanderman
I really enjoyed the site, I didn't know that much about what my Dad did, since I was only born in 1961 in Landstuhl, he was 'Mike' HODGDEN worked as a firefighter, was on the bowling team. I still have his area badge! It has on it 587th TacMissileGru, SuppRon(TM). Could someone tell me what SuppRon(TM) stands for and was the 587th in Grunstadt or where? Believe it or not I still have his silver nametag (metal) with the missile on it.I also have a patch, I didn't see it on the site it has the same design as the 38th TMW, but says 38th Air Base Group Did you guys or who wore this patch? It's too bad my Dad didn't get a silver missile badge, he was with missiles 1st PBS Exp. Missile Group and the 550th, at Eglin AFB in 49 and 50. That's when the missilemen moved to Patrick and he went to Eniwetok with the AEC, then 10years later he is back with the same missiles they were testing. Thanks again, If anyone knew him or can answer the questions please E-mail me.
Change of email address. Plan on going to Tucson next May.
Just updating my email address. Also noticed in the 'Honor Roll' that William Lewis is listed, but no remarks about him. He was at Hahn,Site IV in the early sixties and retired in Tampa Fl after making Major. Most of you may remember him for his 'Are you a turtle' remark during a Tac Eval!
